Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. Awards $80,000 to Checkers(R)/Rally's(R) Indy 500(R) Pit Stop Challenge Winners

TAMPA, Fla., May 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Checkers Drive-In Restaurants, Inc. (Nasdaq: CHKR - News), the Official Burger of the Indy 500®, part of the IRL IndyCar(TM) Series, today awarded a cash purse of $80,000 to the winners of the Checkers®/Rally's® Pit Stop Challenge. The winning team, Marlboro Team Penske, took home $30,000 in prize money. The remaining purse was divided among the other 11 competing teams based on their performance during the challenge.

The Pit Stop Challenge has been an Indy 500 race-week tradition for more than 28 years. Checkers/Rally's has been the title sponsor of the Challenge since 2003.

In addition to the Checkers/Rally's Pit Stop Challenge, the Company is the category-exclusive sponsor of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Official Burger of the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400®, a NASCAR® Winston Cup Series event.
