An investment group has made its intentions for Wendy's International Inc. plain -- it wants the company to spin off its Tim Hortons unit and sell most of its Wendy's restaurants to franchisees.

The investment group, centered around New York-based Pershing Square Capital Management LP, outlined its proposal in a letter to Wendy's management, filed Tuesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Mit diesem Vorgehen schwebt dem Suchmaschinenbetreiber vor, die "Netzneutralität" zu sichern. "Mein Unternehmen glaubt, wie viele andere auch, dass das Internet offen bleiben und für alle gleich erreichbar sein muss", erklärte Vint Cerf, TCP/IP-Miterfinder und "Internet-Evangelist" bei dem Suchmaschinenprimus, am Rande einer Konferenz in Sofia.
Der als einer der "Väter des Internet" bekannt gewordene Techniker zeigte sich erneut besorgt darüber, dass manche Breitbandanbieter dieses Prinzip in Frage stellen, ihre Macht über die Infrastruktur nutzen und die Dienste von Mitbewerbern behindern wollen. Zugleich kündigte Cerf an: "Wenn wir mit unseren Argumenten keinen Erfolg haben, dann müssen wir einfach warten, bis irgendein Missbrauch passiert. Und dann werden wir den Fall vor die Kartellbehörde des Justizministeriums bringen."
